My focus is on creating and supporting projects that live at the intersection of data and narrative. I am interested in how storytellers, journalists, and the public can leverage data and computation to make sense of the world around us. Currently, I am based at the Brown Institute for Media Innovation at Columbia Journalism School and Stanford Engineering School.

Recent projects include Locale Observer, a tool to help newsrooms and philanthropic organizations identify geographic gaps in coverage; Grades of Heat, an investigative tool exploring the thermal legacy of redlining in America; The Curse of Dimensionality, an interrogation of algorithms and their relationship to conflict, currently on exhibition at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025; and data analysis for Scorching Cells, an investigation into heat in the US prison system.

In addition to my work at the Brown Institute, I run a company called pickworthy that helps non-profits and mission-driven organizations with managing competitive programs online.
